Guy Walker showed plenty of potential as a fast bowling all rounder catching the attention of the selectors and securing a professional contract at Victoria aged 17.
This lead to having a season as a rookie with the Melbourne Stars and three summers at the Melbourne Renegades brushing shoulders with the likes of Aaron Finch, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Cameron White. Unfortunately, Guy's cricket career came to an end as a result of a serious shoulder injury.
An opportunity then arose for him to switch codes with the Melbourne Football Club offering him a contract where he again succumbed to an injury and was forced to draw the curtain on his athletic pursuits at age 24.
In our chat we discuss where his passion for cricket began, his time playing and touring with Junior Australian sides, playing a Youth Test and making his BBL debut.
We also look at the important question of where we find our identity in life and the challenges of transitioning out of life as a professional athlete and finding other pursuits to work towards.
As always, we will find out which three people he would most like to have an hour in the nets with.
